Hey everyone, its Adam DeGraide here with a micro motivation this week. Thank you for all my viewers who have been tuning in and watching. It’s been an honor and a privilege to spend some time with you. And I’m grateful that you give me some time of your day to listen to my rants and raves.
You know, many of you may not be aware, I’m an entrepreneur, I’ve actually been running my own businesses since 1997. I’ve had the privilege and honor of having hundreds and hundreds of employees that I’ve worked with. Awesome. And you know, I was just thinking the other day, it comes to struggles and people sometimes think, you know, being an entrepreneur must be great. You have resources, you have success, you have money, but you know, they never think about the times where you have to make tough decisions, reallocate resources and, and what kind of the burden that is on the entrepreneur, the owner of the business, and there is quite a burden there as well too.
One of the other things about being an employer of hundreds of people over the years, is you wonder, like, how many lives have you impacted, you know, for positive, you know, this, I would imagine there’s some with gratitude, some who are grateful, you know, I’ve lost friendships, you know, that I that I miss, and if you’re one of them watching right now, please reach out to me, I’d love to talk with you.
But you know, I was going through something a couple of weeks back, thinking about some of the older employees that I’ve dealt with in my life and have been around. And this message came into my inbox on Facebook Messenger, and this is what it says, ‘Adam DeGraide, I was just driving home from lunch earlier today, and I got to pondering the many paths I’ve taken in my life, how blessed I am to have ended up in a career that I have so much passion for how it quite literally set the course of my success for my entire adult life.’
‘I’m not even sure where I’d be today, or what I would be doing if I not ever been given the chance to work at BZ almost 20 years ago. I don’t know if I’ve ever truly thank you personally, for giving me that chance. I was way under qualified.’
‘I handed you a portfolio of subpar drawings, I showed you a website I put together for the interview that looked like well, inexperienced, 18 year old would have built but for whatever reason, you gave me a chance. And it changed everything. Whenever I have these kind of thoughts, I can’t keep them to myself and I shouldn’t either. You impacted my life more than you’ll ever know. And for that I’m eternally grateful. So thank you, Adam, thank you for giving me a chance 20 years ago, that would be the most important chance anyone has ever given me. I hope all is well. God bless you good sir.’
You know what I’d be lying to if I told you that I didn’t cry, after reading that I was moved to tears. And so grateful because it came in an amazing time in my life. And I started thinking back, you know, it was awesome to hear him reach out to me and share that with me. You know, I started thinking about the people in my life that have made an impact in my life. And maybe I haven’t let them know. And maybe they need a note of encouragement as well too, you see, because it’s a blessing. It’s an honour, in many respects, I felt the Spirit of God tell me that this is such a privilege and honor to lead people have your own businesses to be an impact on somebody’s life. But then it also goes back to those that have impacted us.
So I’m actively making a list right now of people that I want to reach out over the next several weeks here, and thank them for their input and impact that they’ve had in my life to make me who I am today. And you guys could do the same thing. You know, you’re impacting people right now you’re not even aware of it that you may be changing their life, for better or for worse, you don’t even know it. But more importantly, think about the men and women who have changed your life for the better. Let’s focus on the positive this week. Let’s reach out to them and thank them and say Well done, good sir. Or good ma’am.
Because at the end of the day, all of us are a combination of everything that’s happened in our lives. And as a result we can give back to those who have given to us and change the world. Thanks so much for listening guys. Hope you have a great day. Tune in next week as well. Thank you
