Hey everyone, it’s Adam DeGraide here with another micro motivation, man, things are getting weird in 2020.
Every single day, it feels like something stranger is happening in our community and around us in the world.
From the lockdowns to the violence. It’s just, it’s been a really, really, really, tough year.
And speaking about weird, last week I gave a message about a lesson from Ricky Bobby, and what you can learn from the movie Talladega Nights, and the character Ricky Bobby.
There’s actually something profoubd, you can learn so check it out.
And so as I was thinking about 2020 and how just, it just seems like every day there’s something else going on. I came to realize really quickly that man, I need more God and His grace in my life more than ever, I think we all do. And I was reading in the Old Testament about a character named Elisha. E-L-I-S-H,-A, who was in attendant and a disciple of the prophet Elijah in the Old Testament, and Elisha, got to see all the amazing things God did through Elijah’s life. And Elijah when he was getting close to his death. He says here it says, “What shall I do for you before I am taken away.” So Elijah says to Elisha, what should I do for you. And he says, “Please give me a double portion of your spirit, be upon me,” in other words let me have double the portion of your spirit that you have with God, I’ve seen. God, I want more of that in my life. And Elijah says that’s gonna be very difficult to do. But fast forward, if you know, if you see me not die, basically I’m taken before you, then you’ll have that double portion. Elijah did not die a natural death.
He was taken up to heaven. And Elisha was granted the double portion, and it made me start to think about all the things in my life that I’ve liked to have double portions of and it’s primarily food related. My wife makes an amazing vegetable lasagna. I cannot eat just one piece or a brownie, I got, many times I try to eat one brownie. I’ve got to have two or remember there’s a commercial with Lay’s chips, you know, try to eat just one you can’t just eat just one, because you need that double portion, it’s so good. And what I realized is that, that’s what we need in our lives right now was a double portion of God’s grace, and the New Testament it also talks about how we have not from God, because we ask not. And many people have used that to say that they can ask for a car or house or more money the name it and claim it type of thing and I’m not suggesting that God can’t bless people with those things, but that’s not the primary purpose of asking God for things. It’s not to be selfish, but to be selfless in what we need right now and what I need more than anything is grace, grace towards my fellow mankind, my fellow human on the planet, and vice versa. We need to love each other. And Jesus is the great equalizer, we need a double portion of God’s grace through Jesus Christ, which is, we are no longer held captive we are all free in Christ Jesus, regardless of race, color, creed, we are equal, and we have been made, set free through the blood of Jesus Christ, and what I want in my life is that double portion of God’s grace, how about you?.
This has been a micro motivation with Adam DeGraide. Remember if you can’t make your point in under four minutes, you might not have one to make.
Have a fantastic day, and hopefully things get a little bit better from here on out.
